Date: October 11, 2008 at the Cité des Sciences et de l'industrie, Paris
The ESSEC & Mannheim EMBA weekend class in Paris (WE08) took the initiative to support blind and visually handicapped people through their class project*.
The EMBA participants decided to launch a forum that focused on training and professional integration in the workforce for the visually handicapped.
This was the first forum of its kind and therefore received the support of the French Minister for Labour, Social Affairs and Solidarity, Xavier Bertrand, the Tremplin Association, as well as the singer and entertainer Gilbert Montagné as ambassador for the event.
The forum gave visually handicapped and blind candidates the opportunity to meet recruiters from leading French and international companies and to learn more about professional training. The visitors had the chance to apply directly for open positions and internships and to receive further information on training programs. The companies were pleased to meet with very qualified candidates with a wide range of professional backgrounds.
About 20 companies and their recruiters were present: Alcatel-Lucent, Areva, BNP-Paribas, Bouygues Telecom, Cap Gemini, Crédit Agricole, le Groupe Caisse d'Epargne, le groupe ESSEC, les GMF assurances, IBM, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Thalès, Dell, Essilor, Pierre et Vacances, Total, le Club Méditerranée, les Banques populaires, Logica, and l'Institut de la Vision…
The class project:
Bringing the whole class together as a team is the idea of the class project. It is a unique opportunity for participants to develop their ability to organize tasks, define common objectives and stay motivated while working in a large group.
